Miss Elissa
Elissa M. DiBona Verwholt twirled her way into the dance studio at only two years old! She specializes in ballet and pointe, having trained with the Boston Ballet School, studying the Vaganova (Russian) methodology of ballet. As a student, Miss Elissa performed with The Boston Ballet Company for several years in their critically acclaimed The Nutcracker at the Wang Center, Boston. To compliment her ballet training, she studied tap, jazz, lyrical and modern genres, competing regionally and nationally throughout New England. Miss Elissa is the co-founder and Director Emeritus of the FAITH Dance Project, a Contemporary Ballet Company, based in Manhattan. She holds a degree in Dance from Hofstra University in New York and has studied Arts Management through Boston University’s graduate degree program. Most recently, Miss Elissa spent 5 consecutive years establishing the ballet and pointe program at Stonehill College. With decades of experience in the field, Miss Elissa is known for her outward passion for the art of ballet and encourages her students to build a strong sense of self-worth, while seeking out their own artistic vision. She is highly effective in communicating her detailed knowledge of technical ballet skills to the jazz/lyrical genres, to help promote flawless execution of choreography. Miss Elissa understands what motivates a dancer, how to help them reach their full potential, and takes pride in watching her students succeed on and off stage. She is excited to share her “sugarplum sparkle” and love of all things #pinkandsparkly!
